We source the beans from some of the best coffee farms Maui has to offer. That's where its name comes from; the Hawaiian word "Mahi'ai" means "farm" and "farmer" in English. And this blend is truly a home-style, farm-fresh gem.
These extremely small farms (often less than one acre) are located near our roastery. That's in Upcountry Maui, where the paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) still roam the countryside, the rolling hills are covered with eucalyptus trees, and the sun rises shrouded in morning mist. At this high elevation, around 3,500 feet, the temperature can be about 20 degrees cooler than down on Maui's coast.
The topographical and weather patterns in the area are incredibly conducive to growing amazing coffee. Mahiai Blend combines carefully selected beans from these high-elevation farms to create a coffee that is robust and full of aroma, with the pleasant aftertaste of fresh mountain berries.
